AIFT has been admitted to InnoHK Research Clusters, the Hong Kong Government announced in November 2021. After a rigorous selection and assessment process, AIFT is one of the 28 successful laboratories. As such, AIFT has received the green light to further develop its innovative projects for the Hong Kong financial industry. Chief Executive Carrie Lam said, “During my recent visits to some of these laboratories, I was impressed by the passion and perseverance of the research teams in pursuing technological breakthroughs and innovative business opportunities. “I strongly believe that these laboratories and talents can help Hong Kong scale new heights in I&T development and further consolidate our position as a hub for global research collaboration.”

AIR@InnoHK focuses on the development of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics technologies, as applied to areas such as financial services, smart cities and advanced manufacturing. Research focuses cover big data analytics, machine learning, cognitive systems, intelligent agents, medical robotics and other robots etc.
As part of the AIR@InnoHK cluster, AIFT’s initial focus in the Hong Kong financial industry is on China Onshore Bond Analytics, Supply Chain Financing, and Investment Intelligence. Researchers and development and commercialization team are working alongside business partners in real-life business cases which will demonstrate the potential of FinTech. InnoHK is a major initiative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to develop Hong Kong as the hub for global research collaboration. This involves the establishment of world-class research clusters at the Hong Kong Science Park with research laboratories set up by world renowned universities and research institutes to conduct collaborative researches.
It is envisaged that by facilitating the convergence of world-class researchers from across the world, a free exchange of ideas will stimulate cross-disciplinary synergies, engender collaborative lines of research and establish impactful research projects.
