Responsibilities

  • Develop the web applications for the financial projects.
  • Design the application’s technical infrastructure using the frontend framework such as Ant Design and React, and the backend framework such as Django, and Express JS.
  • Assist in system design according to project requirement, as well as program testing and deployment of systems.
  • Provide technical and programming support to the project team and customers.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Degree or above in Computer Science / Information Technology or related discipline.
  • 5 years or above experience in fullstack software development.

Fintech careers open up for Hong Kong graduates

A recently launched Fintech start-up set in the vibrant Hong Kong Sciences Park is proving a big hit with Hong Kong graduates. Working alongside expert academic and industry professionals, young talent is getting a head start in cutting-edge finance.

The Laboratory for AI-Powered Financial Technologies Limited (AIFT), co-founded by the City University of Hong Kong and Columbia University, New York, and headed up by Professor Houmin Yan of CityU, is providing multiple opportunities for young and ambitious graduates.

“Thanks to Professor Yan, I was offered an opportunity to do an internship at AIFT in August,” says recent graduate Emma Cai.

“My main work here is to explore the mainland money flow as a whole and its effect on the Hong Kong stock market and to develop a good trading strategy.”

Working with the support of Dr Cong Wang, Emma has developed multiple strategies in the project whilst improving her research abilities.

“I have been given a lot of opportunities to practice my python skills, and also learn a lot about the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect. Data collection, data analysis, and data visualization are three important parts of my work.”

Assistant Financial Engineer, Simon Tie, has had a similarly positive start.

The job experience is engaging, multifaceted, and challenging,” he says.

“I am working on an independent Chinese bond rating system where we use machine learning models to provide an accurate rating of Chinese onshore bonds as well as theoretical valuations on credit spreads and liquidity premium.”

“As a start-up company, our team is relatively small, but this leads to more direct engagement with my supervisor and seniors.”

We are seeking for Post-Doctoral Fellow who is expected to possess outstanding research experience on feature engineering, AI/ML algorithm for financial data analytics. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will participate in research and development projects to untap the power of advanced ML and data analysis techniques for financial engineering applications. A Ph.D. degree is required from a research-intensive university with specialization in machine learning, time series analysis, advanced multivariate statistics, statistical learning theory and methods, clustering and classification, or feature engineering techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with AIFT’s Director, Head of Development, and project leads to participate in research and development capability of AIFT to explore the cutting edge FinTech solution empowered by Big Data, artificial intelligence and modern financial technologies and tools.
  • Partner with other colleagues who are data scientist, financial analyst to assist on the successful development and deployment for both institutional and individual solutions, especially focus on feature engineering process to achieve optimal model performance considering data and business requirement.
  • Identifying and resolving technical and research-related issues, supporting cross-areas (within AIFT) engagement on selected topics, and collaborating on areas for future technology growth or improvement.
  • Supporting selected commercialization activities including addressing potential technical and research-related challenges.
  • Achieving cutting edge research and development results in Fintech and Data Science with outstanding publications and patent applications.

Qualification & Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, Operations Research or relevant engineering fields.
  • Solid knowledge of concurrent feature engineering techniques for AI/ML algorithms.
  • Three years of relevant experience in feature engineering, classification, clustering, and regression modeling in AI/ML algorithms.
