
FinTech Social Hackathon
The FinTech Social Hackathon, organized by the Laboratory for AI-Powered Financial Technologies, concluded successfully on 28 Nov 2024, at the Hong Kong Science Park. The theme of the competition was “Enhancing Hong Kong Citizens’ Understanding of MPF Investment for Better Retirement Planning.” Participating university students conducted market research on MPF, interviewed citizens to collect and analyse data, and utilized design thinking method to create app solutions.
The event featured guest speakers and judges including Florence Chan, General Manager (External Affairs) at MPFA; and Professor Alice Law, Adjunct Professor from the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law; Michelle Yeung, Head of Investor Education and Stakeholder Engagements at IFEC; along with other experts from the education and financial technology sectors.
The participating teams showcased their creativity by designing innovative application solutions that left a lasting impression on the judges. The aim of the event was to leverage technologies such as AI and large language model chatbots to provide solutions that enhance Hong Kong employees’ understanding of MPF, as well as encouraging them to actively manage their MPF investments and strengthen retirement security.
