SOFTWARE ENGINEER

THE ROLE

The Laboratory for AI-Powered Financial Technologies Limited (AIFT) aims to be a leading research center on the financial technologies and services. We are seeking for passionate and talented Software Engineer to join our growing team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement and document the big data analytics and software applications for the financial projects.
  • Assist in system design according to project requirements, as well as program testing and deployment of systems.
  • Work with business team, understand business requirements, facilitate in reaching agreement on problem fix prioritization, acceptance criteria, etc. Perform test results logging, report test results and participate to resolve issues.
  • Provide various technical and programming supports to the project team.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science / Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Solid development experience in (e.g., Python, Javascript, Django or React).
  • Hands-on experience in the major database systems (e.g., MySQL or MongoDB).
  • Knowledge or experience with machine learning and AI (e.g.,ChatGPT) is a plus.
  • Experience in the well-known data analytics challenges, International Collegiate Programming Contest or Mathematical Contest in Modeling is highly preferred.
  • Experience on UAT testing or system roll out, digital banking/financial service experience is a plus.
  • Less experience will be considered as Assistant Software Engineer.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the financial industry and FinTech community.
  • Search industry players and consolidate information, such as their products, services, and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that research findings are integrated into business strategies and plans.
  • Prepare reports and presentations that summarize research findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in ad hoc projects as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Venture Capital Investment (VC),Private Equity (PE), preferably in the financial industry or Fintech startup.
  • 3 years of experience in Supply Chain Finance is a plus.

MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER – NLP

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in NLP, including techniques, algorithms, and models.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize NLP models and algorithms, with a focus on improving accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Perform data analysis and feature engineering to enhance the performance of NLP models.
  • Evaluate and benchmark different NLP models and algorithms, and provide recommendations based on performance metrics.
  • Optimize and fine-tune NLP models for deployment in production environments.
  • Document research findings, methodologies, and experimental results in technical reports and presentations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in NLP and contribute to the knowledge sharing within the team.

 

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor or above in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of working and/or research experience in the field of Machine Learning.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming language.
  • In-depth understanding of NLP concepts, techniques, and algorithms.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data.
  • Familiarity with Linux environment and experience working with command-line tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Recommended experience in parallel computing to leverage distributed systems for training and optimizing NLP models.
  • Recommended experience in implementing and fine-tuning NLP models, such as Bloom, LLaMA, BERT, LSTM, and Transformer.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for the position of Assistant ML Engineer – NLP.

  • Familiar with deep learning, natural language processing, especially AIGC common algorithm principles.
  • Master the pre-trained language model and Transformer related algorithms.
  • Understand the fine-tuning method of LLM large language model.
  • Familiar with the Linux platform, proficient in using at least one deep learning framework (such as Pytorch, TensorFlow).

  • Collect, organize, clean, and validate large datasets related to financial markets, focusing on fixed income securities.
  • Utilize various tools and techniques to extract relevant financial data from multiple sources, including websites, databases, and APIs.
  • Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines to ensure the seamless flow of data for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify patterns, trends, and insights, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and visualizations to communicate findings, trends, and recommendations effectively.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks on data and analysis outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established standards.

 

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years or above hands-on experience in data analytics.
  • Bachelor or above in Statistics, Data Science, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Decent knowledge and understanding of financial products and markets, particularly in the domain of fixed income securities.

  • Assist the project leader on designing and maintenance of a database suitable for analyzing data for supply chain financing.
  • Model development and validate research results.
  • Undertake ad-hoc tasks as assigned from time to time.

 

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

  • Master/PhD degree holder in the areas of Statistics / Applied Mathematics.
  • Preferably with analyzing time series data experience.
  • Good knowledge on statistical theories and experienced of using different software such as R and Python.
  • Knowledge on supply chain management and finance will be an advantage.
  • Project management skills.
  • Able to work both independently and being a member in a team.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.
  • Fresh PhD graduates will also be considered.
